Congreso Internacional Mujer Arte y Tecnología

 

SE COMUNICA

CIMUAT, el Congreso Internacional Mujer, Arte y Tecnología en la Nueva Esfera Pública se celebrará en la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia durante los días 3 y 4 de noviembre de 2010.

El objetivo del presente Congreso Internacional es reunir a artistas e investigadoras/es  que presenten discursos innovadores en la convergencia arte, mujer y tecnología, permitiendo la participación de diversas comunidades intelectuales y ofreciendo un contexto de debate sobre la práctica contemporánea, las ideas y los tejidos sociales vinculados al tema de género en la nueva esfera pública.

La convergencia transdisciplinar y cultural entre la tecnología y el arte brinda una oportunidad sin precedentes a las y los artistas que utilizan estos recursos. A través de los nuevos medios (electrónicos y digitales, net-art, ciberactivismo y ciberfeminismo, arte interactivo, vídeo-instalación, vídeo-arte, fotografía digital, arte sonoro, realidad virtual, realidad aumentada, etc.) se pone a prueba la misma noción de cómo el arte se produce y se nos muestra; lo que nos lleva a cuestionar y evaluar sus contenidos así como su función en la sociedad.

En este Congreso convergen diversas áreas de conocimiento cuyo hilo conductor incide principalmente en las aportaciones desde la teoría y la praxis, incidiendo de forma particular en la capacidad que manifiesta la práctica artística para visibilizar, cuestionar y desarticular los roles y estereotipos de género denunciados por el feminismo y que todavía hoy perduran en la sociedad occidental. Así mismo se hace especial hincapié en el papel que desempeña el arte público, así como las redes sociales y activistas en la creación de una nueva esfera pública.

El  Congreso  está  dirigido  fundamentalmente a investigadoras/es,  expertas/os en artes visuales, especialistas en estudios de género, tecnología, plataformas y redes digitales, así como a  profesoras/es, educadoras/es, historiadoras/ es de arte, museólogas/os, alumnos/as universitarias/os y público interesado en general.

Les invitamos a que envíen sus Resúmenes/Abstracts para contribuir con su experiencia en el contenido de este Congreso.

COMMUNICATION:

CIMUAT, The International Congress on Woman, Art and Technology in the New Public Sphere (Congreso Internacional Mujer, Arte y Tecnología en la Nueva Esfera Pública) will take place at Valencia Polytechnic University on 3rd and 4th November 2010.

The aim of this International Congress is to bring together artists and researchers to present innovative lectures on the convergence between art, woman and technology while bringing together varied intellectual communities and offering a meeting and debating forum on contemporary practice, ideas and social make-up linked to the theme of gender in the new public sphere.

The trans-disciplinary convergence between technology and art provides an unprecedented chance for both male and female artists who use these resources. The use of modern media (electronic, digital, net-art, cyber-activism and cyber-feminism, interactive art, video-installation, digital photography, sound-art, virtual reality, increasing reality, etc.) leads us to put to the test the very notion of how art is produced and shown, facts which encourage us to question and evaluate the content as well as its function within society.

At this congress, various different areas of knowledge converge and the live wire linking them meet mainly in contributions from theory to praxis, coinciding especially in the capacity to visualise demonstrations artistically, to question and break the idea of gender roles and stereotypes refuted by feminism and which still last even in this day and age in the western world. We must highlight specifically the role of public art, as well as social and activist networks in the creation of a new public sphere.

The congress is aimed fundamentally at both male and female researchers, experts in visual arts, specialists in gender studies, technology, digital platforms and networks, as well as teachers, educators, art historians, museum curators, university students and the general public.

We would like to invite you to send us your Summary/Abstracts to contribute your experience to the content of this Congress.
