Marzo: telesummit --> Womenwhotech.com
Hi Everyone:
I wanted to let you know (in particular the ladies on the list) about a very cool new project I'm organizing along with some other awesome women called *Women Who Tech: A Telesummit for Women in Technology* in the non-profit and political world (http://www.womenwhotech.com). This participatory telesummit will feature virtual workshops and panel discussions in online organizing and politics, fighting sexism in the tech sector, mobile activism, women in open source, career coaching, and more. Please check out our website and sign up at http://www.womenwhotech.com. We also have great stats and resources to share.
In a nutshell: The telesummit aims to create a supportive network for the vibrant and thriving community of women in online communications and technology professions by giving them an open platform to share their talents, experiences and insights. Any woman with a telephone who works in technology at a non-profit or a political campaign or is just interested in technology is invited to participate in this free, live event.
I started *Women Who Tech* because some of the most gifted people working in technology are women yet they are rarely quoted as experts by the media and are significantly underrepresented on panels at technology conferences. The *Women Who Tech* project hopes to change this by mobilizing a network of women who love to tech out. Over the next year we are going to build an extensive database of women technology experts to be used as a resource for the media and tech conference organizers.
*Women Who Tech *is a collaborative project. If you have ideas for panels and virtual workshops please email me or use our *Suggest A Panel *form on our website at (http://www.womenwhotech.com/suggest_panel.html). We definitely want to get women from outside the U.S. involved in the project.
100% of net proceeds will benefit the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund in honor of my sister who lost her fight to breast cancer 2 years ago. * Sponsors: *There are a limited number of advertising sponsorships available to support *Women Who Tech: A TeleSummit for Women in Technology*. Please check out the ad sponsorship opportunities at (http://www.womenwhotech.com/sponsorships.html).
Cheers,
Allyson, Roz, Kelly, and Lisa
